The only aircraft loss reported during the period for the 729th and 37th Bombardment Squadrons occurred on June 7, 1952 - a day after Dash's last mission. Aircraft 44-34715 reported being hit at 2255I and bailing out. The crew included Bobby Hammet, James E. Gunoe Jr., James E. Kiernan, and David E. Penny. All were captured, held prisoner, persuaded to confessing to germ warfare, and eventually returned to U.S. military control. No information exists to corroborate Dash's account with the records. Unfortunately, Dash's perspective is told third-hand through an obituary tribute so it unknown how the tale has been relayed and interpreted since 1952.
