Hoisting the Squadron flag in the North African desert is this Cheshire NCO serving with a famous Irish regiment. He is Squadron Quartermaster Sergeant Peter Rafferty (32), whose mother, Mrs. A. Rafferty, lives at 11 Dargle Road, SALE. He is serving with HQ Squadron of the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards and was taking part in a Strategic Reserve exercise in Libya, from which he has recently returned to Salisbury Plain where the regiment is stationed. He is very familiar with Northern Ireland, having served as Recruiting Sergeant in Enniskillen and Dungannon, and his father was Regimental Sergeant Major of the old Inniskilling Dragoons before their amalgamation into the present regiment. SQMS Rafferty is widely travelled and has served in Germany, Korea, and Egypt.
