COPYRIGHT, REUSE & PRIVACY

The narratives, photographs and scans on this site are the work of the RCM Collection and are copyright the collector. Where something shown here is not in my possession or comes from a primary source held elsewhere, I have tried to say so; if you find material that is not properly credited, please tell me and I will fix it.

I make every effort to get the history right, but I am one person working from the records I can find, and I cannot accept liability for how the information here is used. Questions about copyright and use are welcome through the contact form on the About page.

REUSE

I built this site to share these stories, and I am glad when the material travels. You are welcome to quote the narratives and use the images for research, teaching, writing and personal projects. Please credit the RCM Collection and link back here where you can; every person page and archive item carries a suggested citation, and where one has been assigned, an accession number.

The scanned documents in the Library & Archives are watermarked and free to read and download for the same purposes. If you want to publish or sell something built on this material, or you need a higher resolution copy of an image, ask first. I usually say yes.

PRIVACY & COOKIES

This site collects some information about your visit automatically, through Google Analytics, so that I can see which pages are read and make the site more useful. It does not identify you personally. Analytics works with cookies, small pieces of text stored by your browser that let it recognise a returning visit. Nothing else on this site sets a cookie. If you would rather not have them, your browser's help pages explain how to delete or block cookies, and the site will still work.

The contact form sends what you type to me by email and keeps a copy on the server so that nothing is lost if a message fails to send; the subscribe form sends me your address. That information is used only to reply to you or to send the occasional update about the collection, and is never shared.
